What songs do you have on repeat?
Music- most of us can’t live without it. There’s nothing more enjoyable than putting on your favorite tunes and dancing through your barn chores. It can also make your rides more pleasant. The rhythm of the song can actually be paired with your horse’s movement for a blissful experience. The real challenge is constructing a barn playlist though.
Riding with music on can be extremely beneficial when done safely. Certain songs have the ability to lift our moods when we hear them, which can improve our relationship with our horse under saddle. Many songs encourage rhythm and tempo. This can be useful for a beginner learning to post or a young horse moving through the training pyramid. One song may encourage slower movement, while an upbeat one can spark forward energy.
Instead of headphones, try something safer like the I Rock n Ride Speaker (https://irocknride.myshopify.com). It can attach to an English or western saddle. You’ll want to bombproof your horse to this device though, making sure they’re comfortable with noise from above.
Now back to constructing that special barn playlist… Some riders prefer country, while others like a mix of rock, oldies, pop, alternative, or rap. Try listening to some of these horse-inspired songs to see if they make the cut for your list.

The barn can also offer its own unique soundtrack if you care to listen.
