If you can’t be at the barn or out riding, then what could be better than grabbing some snacks and playing a horsey board game with friends or family instead? The best thing about board games is that there are so many different options these days, and many can be enjoyed by people of all ages. Here are five fun horsey board games for the whole family, for instance:

Horse-Opoly

Everyone loves Monopoly, and Horse-Opoly might be even better if you’re a horse lover. The goal of this game is to buy horses, then collect bales of straw to trade in for barns or collected horses. As you play, you’ll also collect deed cards with fun and interesting horse information. This game can be played as the traditional long-game version or as a quicker, one-hour version. For 2-6 players, ages 8 and up.

Herd Your Horses

In this game, you can play from either the rancher or the horse’s perspective as you move through an adventure-filled game board. Each of the 50 horses comes with its own illustrated card including their name, breed, color, and fictional biography. For 2-4 players, ages 8 and up.

Horse Sense

Created by the makers of Breyer model horses, this game will test your horse knowledge as you attempt to collect ten horses of one breed. You can buy and trade horses with other players and get the chance to have different horse-related careers throughout the game as well. You will also learn more about horse care, health, and riding by playing Horse Sense. For 2-4 players, ages 8 and up.

SmartGames Horse Academy Path-Building Game

This is a logic-based, one-player game that features four different skill levels, depending on how much of a challenge the player wants. There are 80 different challenges. Players will build a jumping course based on the challenge they draw and then help their horse complete the course. Ideal for ages 7 and up.

Fantasy Ranch

This game allows you to build and manage your own dream stables, compete at horse shows, and collect horses. It incudes three different levels of difficulty and players can earn trophies and rewards as they go along. The best part is that Fantasy Ranch features real-life ranches from around the world.
